Swirling while standing still

Are you at all like me, do you get up in the morning and go to work, being happy to have a job but feeling like life is passing you by? This is where I am lately. I am forever grateful to have a job that pays the bills but it's stagnant. It's dull, it's just there.

So I have decided to write a Life's Plan. Star in my own story, and decide where it is I'd love to be, besides in the office at 7am. It's a lot harder than it seems. I truly believe I have A.D.D. Seriously. No joke. My mind wanders constantly. I'm like that animated dog that can talk, and is in conversation until he sees a squirrel. Yup, that's me. Even when I say prayers, I find my mind wandering and I have to literally calm it before I can refocus. Not good. I believe HE is keeping tabs.

It's just that, I tend to get bored easily. So the thought of doing something for the rest of my days, scares me. Instead of tackling it, I just go with the flow....Well no more Missy! The ride on the lazy river is over! I'm pulling up my water socks (see how I did that, water socks, flows with the river ride...:) and heading in a new direction! What direction is that? I have no idea. I guess I should start with what it is I like. Like reading your blogs. Writing. Crafting. Thrifting. Laughing....Anybody with any ideas, just jump in...feel free. No seriously, I'd love to hear your ideas and how you're staring in your own story.

Are you doing what you love? How'd you get there? Do you have any tips? Pointers? Suggestions?

Roscoe

I feel the need to explain my decision. I have spent many a post about my baby Roscoe. He was a stray abandoned in an apartment when I first adopted him. I got him at 3 months of age and he brought me happiness, unconditional love and comfort.

From day one he would pee outside his box. Vet after vet couldn't find the issue. He was attracted to carpeting, so I removed all carpeting from my home. When I moved I made sure the apartment didn't have any carpeting. When carpeting wasn't available, he'd pee on my bed. Back from the vet with no explanation, I started living with my bedroom door closed. Roscoe brought his own set of issues, but he was a sweet soul and I adored my baby Roscoe. He brought me up through the deepest depths of sorrow.

In this new apartment, however, there is carpeting, and no chance of removing it. He peed constantly, I cleaned, he resoiled, I cleaned, he'd get infections from the chemicals I used to clean the carpeting. He was on antibiotics for a month at a time. Our very patient vet suggested we kennel him in our only bathroom in a dog cage for one month, letting him out only when we could supervise him. He was in the bathroom all alone all day long, and all night long for one month. This was in hopes of retraining him to use his litter box. He was also getting shots of ketofen.

Sadly, nothing worked. We found out that he had circulatory and heart problems that I hadn't known of. Why am I telling you all this? Because I shared a lot of my worries about his urine issues throughout this blog, because I don't want his little life to have been done in vain, and because I don't want you to think I made this decision lightly. It was a very hard day and a very sad one.

I don't believe animals are disposable. Neither does my hubby. We did this with very heavy hearts and we still miss him. He was family for 11 years and will always be.

I just wanted to share this with you.

Summer flower

I've been inspired by the amazing transformations I've seen on so many talented blogs lately. When my world is busy and spinning I find peace in creating. I've never worked with fabric before so this was my first attempt. I inherited my grandma's sewing machine and with it came a treasure chest of needles, threads and buttons! I found these little pieces of fabric, and sewed them together. Then I added the little button to the center to resemble a flower. I sewed a safety pin to the back and voila!

The beaded necklace I've had for awhile, and I really don't like putting holes in my clothing so I decided to attach it to my necklace for a pop.

I'm pretty happy with my first try.

American Pickers

Have you seen this show? It's on the History Channel. Just stumbled upon it on Monday and have found my favorite summer show! If you haven't seen it you can catch it on Monday night at 9/8C. Two guys, Mike and Frank, travel across the back roads of America in search of antique treasures. The episode I saw had them at an old gentleman's home where they stumbled upon an antique Studebaker! It was in perfect condition!!

It's amazing what people own and may not realize the treasures they have in their possession.

I've been to an antique flea market, my hubby finds dull so I didn't get to stay too long, but I don't know the value of things to know if I'm looking at jewels. I love yard sales but may dabble a bit more in the flea markets. Where are your favorite pick places?

Well Hello Summer....

It has been HOT here on the East coast this past week. Sticky, steamy, hot. Just a run out and run back into the a/c kinda days. The poor pup has just been exhausted. We take her out, hose her off, and bring her back into the a/c.

This is her favorite place to be.

This heat has us all feeling beat, and it has made it almost unbearable to sit in my favorite spot, my little back porch. I did add some more touches to make it feel homey. I added a flag for the 4th of July but will keep it there b/c it's so cute.

I will paint both chairs white....it's just been to hot to continue.

I haven't been on for awhile...It has been a tough June. We had to say goodbye to my sweet baby Roscoe. It's no secret that he had urine problems but what we didn't know was that he had heart disease and circulatory issues. To honor him I put this little angel holding a kitty outside on my porch, where we spent a lot of time together.
